Announcing the 2012 ACS Fellows Program

Posted on 2/20/2012

The Fellows nominations online system will open February 27, 2012 and the due date for all nominations will be April 23, 2012. The Division can endorse the nomination of up to eight ACS Fellows. Our Division has been very successful in getting members elected as Fellows and we hope to continue this trend this year.

Please remember the two criteria for this nomination include:

1. Excellence and leadership that have a lasting beneficial impact in science, the profession, education, and/or management.

2. Volunteer service in the ACS Community resulting in significant enhancements to ACS programs, products, or services.

Nominees for ACS Fellows must be current members in good standing of the ACS (i.e. dues paid up). You can find more information on the program on the web at
www.acs.org/fellows.

Please send names of people who you think meet these criteria (preference of course goes to a division member - anyone can become a division member any time at a nominal cost) to Vicki Grassian at vicki-grassian@uiowa.edu   along with a brief statement about their contributions in both research and service to ACS by March 10, 2012.  In addition, let us know if you are planning on nominating that individual (or the name of someone who could serve as nominator).  From that list, we will put forth eight nominations from the Division.  The full nomination package, which consists of a nomination form plus three letters of recommendation, must be submitted by April 23, 2012.

Remember that ACS members in good standing can make nominations directly.  However, nominations made through the Division will have the full endorsement of the Division, as expressed by Vicki Grassian, 2012 Chair of the Division, through a letter that will be provided for each candidate.

Please feel free to contact Vicki Grassian if you have any questions about this process.  The Division officers and executive committee members thank
you in advance for your suggestions.
